UN Human Rights Commissioner Volker Turk has called on Washington to thoroughly reassess the implementation of its migration policy in the context of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. "I sincerely hope that there will be a reconsideration of how migration policies are applied when they harm human rights and human dignity. Particularly in relation to the World Cup, I hope we can rethink some political aspects that unfortunately seem to prevail today, especially in the United States," Turk stated on the social media platform X, as reported by Actu Foot. The 2026 World Cup is set to take place across three countries: the United States, Mexico, and Canada, from June 11 to July 19.
