Manchester City stars Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw and Yui Hasegawa have been nominated for the PFA Women's Player of the Year award, with Shaw leading the league in goals.
Manchester City's dynamic duo, Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw and Yui Hasegawa, have been nominated for the prestigious Professional Footballers' Association's Women's Player of the Year award. Shaw, who recently claimed the title of Football Writers' Association Women's Footballer of the Year in May, made a significant impact by scoring an impressive 21 goals in just 22 matches. Her remarkable performance was instrumental in Manchester City securing the Women's Super League (WSL) title for the second time. Hasegawa, hailing from Japan, also played a pivotal role in City's success, contributing significantly to their FA Cup victory.

The shortlist for the award features formidable competition from Arsenal's Alessio Russo, who was the runner-up to Shaw in the Golden Boot race. England internationals Lauren James from Chelsea and Jess Park from Manchester United are also in the running. Aston Villa's forward Kirsty Hanson, who managed to net 12 goals in 22 matches, completes the list of nominees. The winner of this coveted award will be announced on August 25th at the PFA Awards ceremony in Manchester.
In addition to the main award, Manchester City's Laura Blindkilde Brown has been recognized in the PFA Young Player of the Year category. Brown, often seen teaming up with Hasegawa in midfield, was crucial to City's title-winning campaign. Chelsea's talented newcomers Alyssa Thompson and Veerle Buurman have also been nominated for the young player award, following impressive debut seasons in the WSL. Completing the list are Japan's Toko Koga from Tottenham, and forwards Olivia Smith from Arsenal and Freya Godfrey from London City Lionesses, both of whom have shown their goal-scoring prowess this season.
